Born in Jamaica, Patrick Simms moved to the US at age of 10 in 1974. He attended local schools in Bridgeport, Connecticut where he also became a journalist for his hometown paper The Connecticut Post.
Mr. Simms moved to San Francisco in 1994 to pursue his interest in music. While doing so he founded opened Patrick Simms Studios and also played and worked with some of the Bay Area’s top musicians. In 1999 He was introduced to the PiP program after joining the Musician’s Union, where he developed their inhouse recording studio which continues to this day. And as a small business owner in Mid Market, and a member of the AFM6, he was approached by the Market Street Association to join the Mid-Market PAC committee where he served as a member for 6 years as both owner and a resident. Mr. Simms was also a founding member of the Positively 6th Street Fair. As a San Francisco based audio engineer he continues to work with LINES Ballet, ODC, Dance Mission, CounterPulse, Naga Dance, The Magic Theater, SMUIN Ballet, Z Space, The SF International Arts Festival, The Annual Juneteenth Festival at the Alice Arts Center in Oakland, Shaping San Francisco, and many more in and around the Bay Area.
